The Napping & Shearing Mechanical Process
The production of premium fleece begins as heavy 3-thread loopknit cloth. To transform loops into fleece, the fabric enters an industrial napping machine equipped with counter-rotating wire-covered rollers. The wire hooks snag the inner loop yarns, shredding and teasing the fibers into a continuous, cloud-like fleece cushion.
Next, the fabric passes through a precision shearing cylinder that trims the brushed fibers to an exact, uniform height. This shearing step is critical: un-sheared fleece sheds lint onto undergarments, while precision-sheared fleece locks the pile in place for durable wash resilience.
